I remember taking our very first train ride in France. We were figuring out how to get to Rue Pierre Nicole for church, and after fiddling with Via Navigo, it led us to Rosny Bois Perrier RER E. It took us a few more minutes getting tickets (we didn’t know they needed coins or a chip card). When we got to the train platform, it started fogging a bit.
I remember shoving my hands in my pockets and leaning against him. There was a sense of warmth that came with that simple action, which quickly turned into comfort. I realized how much I needed this person to always be near me. And before the dread of parting crept upon me, I grabbed his arms, wrapped them around me and basked in this feeling that surely felt like home.
